Buy Nothing, Love Everything

First off, happy Thanksgiving everyone. It's nice to have a whole day devoted to giving thanks, but I really think that we should express our thanks every single day. Through my experiences, I have really been able to appreciate how blessed I am to live comfortably in America.

With the upcoming holiday season, there has been one thing on my mind that has really got me stuck. Why do we buy so much stuff for other people to celebrate Jesus's birthday? Santa Claus isn't real, but Jesus is, and so many people have this fact backwards.

I really don't like the way our society works. We keep on putting more and more emphasis on money, which is the root of evil if you don't remember (1 Timothy 6:10). God calls us to repent from evil things and love one another. Consider this logic: If God is good, and God is love, and money is evil. Then money is not love, money is NOT love.

So let's start a revolution... or better yet, join one that's already begun!

This isn't just about money and consumerism either. It's about justice. It's about loving friends and strangers alike, the earth, and God.

It's not "Merry Christmas, HoHoHo". It's "Happy Birthday Jesus".
